Going Tiny: the New American Dream?

Freedom. That word comes up again and again with proponents of Tiny Living. Most openly admit that paring down a lifetime of possessions to go tiny is one of the most difficult things they’ve ever done, but once that’s achieved, the lack of clutter, responsibility and expense is quite liberating.

 Indeed, the relatively unfettered lifestyle of tiny house dwellers can make those working 9 to 5 to keep a roof over their head a bit envious. Without the mortgage and utility bills eating up to half of every paycheck, that soul-crushing job is no longer necessary.  Maybe you don’t even need to work full time, if at all. Suddenly, travel isn’t something you wait for all year (if the water heater replacement doesn’t take a bite out of the Hawaiian vacation fund), but can actually be a way of life. In the mindset of Tiny Homesteaders, it’s about prioritizing what makes life worth living.
